Muriel W. Robinson Fund to Empower Women
Established by: Muriel W. Robinson
Established on: February 2, 2002
Purpose: The primary purpose of the Fund is to support the Women's Legacy Fund and, through its efforts, provide opportunities for the economic, educational, physical, emotional, social, artistic and personal growth of women and girls in Ventura County.
Background: Mrs. Robinson was long time Ventura County resident. She was a teacher in Simi Valley and served on the Ventura County District Attorney’s Task Force Against Domestic Violence. She helped start the Women’s Legacy Fund by becoming a Founder in 1996. Then in 2002 she responded to VCCF’s request to establish a Named Fund by giving $10,000, creating the Muriel Robinson Fund to Empower Women. Muriel also supported the Women’s Legacy Fund by serving on the Grants Committee. She left her entire estate, in excess of $500,000, to the Women’s Legacy Fund. This Fund will be used for the education and prevention of domestic violence among women of all ages that will last in perpetuity.
