Who We Are


Established in 1987, the Ventura County Community Foundation (VCCF) is a family of charitable funds created by citizens who care deeply about strengthening the community, preserving and expanding its cultural resources, and helping those in need.

Mission

To enable and promote philanthropy to improve our community
for good and for ever

VCCF accomplishes this by being

  • a careful steward of endowment and other funds entrusted to us,

  • a long term partner dedicated to donor intent,

  • a thoughtful grantmaker focusing on the needs of the community
    and nonprofits in Ventura County,

  • a community leader and convener, working for the common good.

Mission Goals

  • To engage donors to build philanthropic capital for Ventura County

  • To build and preserve permanents endowments in Ventura County

  • To provide effective grantmaking from donor advised,
    field of interest, unrestricted and other VCCF funds

  • To provide management and leadership training and education
    for Ventura County nonprofit staffs and boards

  • To be an independent partner for philanthropic civic engagement,
    addressing community needs

The Administration/Finance Committee oversees the Foundation’s staff/administrative resources and the infrastructure needed to maintain overall organizational capacity and excellence.

Board Development Committee

The purpose of the Board Development Committee is to recruit, develop and retain a governing Board, which represents the range of the Community Foundation’s donors and the residents of Ventura County. The Board Development Committee also provides for the continuing education of the Board to ensure a knowledgeable, informed and involved Board membership.

Communications Committee

The Communications Committee oversees the development of a communications and outreach program for all sectors of the community which communicates a clear, consistent and concise message to further understanding and support of the Community Foundation’s efforts.

Resource Center for Nonprofit Management Advisory Committee

The Resource Center for Nonprofit Management Advisory Committee promotes Ventura County nonprofits’ effectiveness by increasing administrative and organizational capabilities through access to and exchange of available information and expertise. Their purpose is to build a comprehensive training and information resource to strengthen Ventura County nonprofit organizations and to advise the Community Foundation on how best to invest in the leaders and volunteers of community-based organizations through education and training.

Strategic Planning Committee

Technical Advisory Committee

The Technical Advisory Committee (TAC) was established to increase the awareness and importance of philanthropy among professional advisors and to encourage the development of permanent charitable resources for Ventura County. In particular, the TAC increases VCCF’s outreach and exposure to the professional community and advises the Foundation on technical and legal issues relative to charitable giving.
