Brad Donley Memorial Scholarship Fund
Established by: Laura Brooks
Established on: September 9, 2009
Purpose of the fund: The primary purpose of this Fund is to provide grants solely and exclusively for the support of the charitable activities generally described as providing scholarship assistance to Ventura County high school seniors who intend to enroll in a community college or public or private 4-year college or university pursuing a degree in math or science.
Background: The Brad Donley Memorial Scholarship Fund was established to honor the memory of Brad Daniel Donley, who was born and raised in Ventura County. Brad was a graduate of Rio Mesa High School, attended Ventura County Community Colleges (Ventura and Moorpark), and was getting ready to transfer to Washington State University majoring in Math and Physical Science. His goal was to become a high school math teacher. Brad passed away at the age of twenty-two. VCCF provided the opportunity to memorialize Brad and worked with his mother, Laura Brooks, to establish a tax deductible scholarship fund in Brad’s name. Through this permanent endowed scholarship fund, Brad’s legacy will enable generations of students to attend college and study math and science.
