On October 11, 2006, the Center for Nonprofit Leadership opened its new state-of-the-art computer lab. In the computer lab, visitors will find 10 computer workstations with flat screen monitors, broadband internet access and FREE access to Foundation Directory Online – Professional.
The computer lab is also home to Technology Works for Nonprofits, a strategic initiative to ensure that nonprofit organizations have access, at an effective cost, to technology based skills-building opportunities and to impart to nonprofit leaders how appropriate use of technology can improve efficiency and effectiveness. This will be achieved through technology training and skill-building workshops, peer networking opportunities and access to expert consulting. Initial program focus will include trainings that build the foundation of a technologically literate nonprofit organization. Workshops will address how to use computer hardware, software, data and information to communicate mission, manage staff and resources, identify donors and funders, strengthen financial practices and inform day to day operations.
Construction of the computer lab and associated programming are generously underwritten by the Amgen Foundation, AT&T Foundation, Edison International, Verizon, and the Weingart Foundation; with hardware donated by Santa Barbara Bank and Trust and the Erickson Family Fund at VCCF.
