Year 2 Major Program Accomplishments

• Held two working symposia to inform stakeholders about major issues and model programs and to engage stakeholders and the community in developing a sustainable set of strategies for addressing the nursing crisis. Topics included:
  • Symposium I: Ventura County Nursing Crisis: Education & Community Responses
  • Symposium II: Strengthening and Sustaining the Nursing Workforce: The Practice Environment
    
• Developed an educational campaign to reach out to funders, the private sector, policymakers, and the education and service sectors to inform them of strategies relevant to their sector and engage them in becoming part of the solution. • In collaboration with VCCF’s Destino: The Hispanic Legacy Fund, held a symposium on Diversity in Nursing & the Impact on the Ventura County Latino Community
• Developed and trained a Nurse Peer Review Committee to assist foundations and other funders who are interested in funding nursing solution strategies, but who do not have nursing expertise on staff.
