Scott Harris
Mustang Marketing
Scott Harris is the founder and president of Mustang Marketing, a full-service marketing, advertising and communications firm based in Thousand Oaks, California. For 25 years, Mustang has specialized in combining strategic expertise and strong creative talent to execute product, brand and company launches and campaigns for a variety of clients. In addition to serving such well-known regional and national accounts as J.D. Power and Associates, Mann Theatres, Dole Fresh Fruit, Community Bank and West Hills Hospital & Medical Center, Mustang contributes to the success of several community organizations, including FOOD Share, Ventura County Sheriff’s Foundation, the National Police Dog Foundation and the Boys & Girls Club.
Scott’s investment in the Ventura County community extends beyond his company’s work. He is one of the founders of Pepperdine University’s Career Action Program, where he also acts as a mentor. Scott also serves on the following Boards of Directors: Pepperdine University Seaver Board of Visitors, VCEDA (Ventura County Economic Development Association) and the Citizens Committee of Common Sense California. Scott is also founder and executive director of Golden Again, a non-profit organization with a mission statement to “Bring Accountability to Sacramento.”
After graduating from California State University at Northridge with a bachelor’s degree in finance and marketing, Scott pursued post-graduate work at Pepperdine. He has taught marketing and ethics at Moorpark Community College, and is a sought-after lecturer in the community and beyond, speaking at various college campuses, business seminars and political groups on a variety of subjects that range from sales and marketing to ethics and politics. Scott also provides regular business, marketing and political columns for various Southern California newspapers.
Raised in Ventura County, Scott lives there with his wife of 32 years, Randi, and their two children: Justin, 26, Director of Debate and a grad student at Concordia University; and Samantha, 21, a graduate and employee of Pepperdine University. His varied hobbies range studying Greek and Roman classics, to playing blues harmonica and housing a tortoise rescue facility at his home.
