Meredith Benton has built a reputation on making non-profit & government agencies more effective at fulfilling their missions.  She currently provides advocacy & public policy, strategic planning, board development, volunteer management, program administration, & public relations services in Ventura & Santa Barbara Counties. She also serves as the Executive Director of the Ventura County Leadership Academy and teaches Nonprofit Management at Pepperdine University.

Her career highlights include advising non-profits in close to 20 states, running a $17 million state agency with 400+ employees & board members, organizing a public health campaign that reduced mortality by 39%, starting 3 non-profits & 2 companies, serving on both sides of the political aisle, working on countless political & grassroots campaigns, observing an election with The Carter Center, & being a published academic.

While advocating for others to engage in their communities, she is an active community volunteer. She serves on the Young Leaders Society and Alliance for the Arts boards, as well as the VCEDA Policy Committee and Casa Pacifica's Program Committee. In Nashville, she served on the Hands on Nashville Board with a year as President & 4 years on the Executive Committee, as well as serving on the Generation Tennessee, Nashville Emerging Leaders, & Nashville Children's Alliance boards.

In 2007, the Nashville Chamber of Commerce recognized her contributions to the Nashville community by awarding her the inaugural Nashville Emerging Leader Award in government. In 2012, Pepperdine University gave Meredith the Waves of Service Leader Award for Ventura County.

She earned a Masters in Public Administration & International Management from the Monterey Institute of International Studies, a graduate school of Middlebury College. She graduated Magna Cum Laude from Pepperdine University with a B.A. in International Studies & Intercultural Communication, where she was named the most outstanding student in her major.
