Mary Schwabauer
VCCF Board Member

Mary Leavens Schwabauer has deep roots in Ventura County. She is owner of Leavens Ranches, which her grandfather began in Santa Paula over 100 years ago. Mary, a former teacher, helped launch the Ventura County Museum of History and Art at its site across from the Ventura Mission. She took turns as board president and docent chairman, helping the museum secure greater state and national recognition.

As a current board member of the Rancho Camulos Museum, the county’s only National Registered Historic Site, Mary helped secure funds to restore and retrofit its building after the 1994 Sylmar earthquake. She is also one of the founders of the Ventura County Associated Historical Societies. Mary is the immediate past chair of the Ventura County Community Foundation Board of Directors. As a long-time supporter of VCCF, she helped establish the Women’s Legacy Fund, Destino: the Hispanic Legacy Fund, and the Heritage Fund, as well as acting as chair of the Scholarship Committee.

Mary is a frequent facilitator of Center for Nonprofit Leadership workshops and has served on the faculty of the Board Leadership Institute.
