Bell Arts Factory- $8,000 (of $12,500 requested) for The Sun Project, to provide workshops for youth to explore the history of the Westside of Ventura, as well as stories, music & mask-making activities of the Mayan, Aztec, Chumash and Greeks to culminate in a myth about the life, death and rebirth of the Ventura Sun and share it with the community as a play. The play will be presented in June 2010 as part of Ventura’s first-ever Solstice Festival. 

Bell Arts Factory, as fiscal sponsor for Vita Arts Center- $5,500 (of $11,000 requested) for the construction & performance of Instruments of Pre-Hispanic Mexico by school children in West Ventura County.   Students will explore the culture and musical sounds of pre-Hispanic Mexico, construct and learn to play instruments, and will conclude with a student performance.

Big Brothers Big Sisters of Ventura County- $6,000 (of $7, 500 requested) for the One Step A La Vez Artivists Performances & Program in Fillmore & Piru.  The program will organize two performances of local bands, provide practice space and develop an Arts Council to coordinate and support the Arts in Fillmore and Piru.

Channelaire Chorus/Sweet Adelines International- $5,000 (of $6,700 requested) for the Youth in Harmony Festival 2011, training 100 local high school youth to perform Barbershop Quartet music. 

City of Moorpark- $3,750 (out of $7,500 requested) for the Moorpark Active Adult Center’s Access to Traditional Arts Project for Old Adults: Gourd Art.  This program will engage seniors in the creation and exhibition of gourd art, created by cutting images into the gourds and embellishing them with painting, wood burning and carving designs into the surface. 

Conejo Valley Senior Concerns- $6,350 (of $8,130 requested) for the Tapestries in Time- Artistic Journey of Older Adults’ Lives Project, which will use art therapy to evoke memories, symbols and styles of art that create connections for elders.  The works of art created by the seniors in the program will be used to create unique note cards that will be marketed to the community.

Etc. Etc. Etc. /Elite Theatre Company- $7,750 (of $15,000 requested) for the Arts 4 You Program, working in partnership with Big Brothers Big Sisters of Ventura County to provide summer theater workshops for Ventura County at-risk youth. 

Kingsmen Shakespeare Company- $4,600 (of $10,000 requested) to cover the cost of performances of A Midsummer Night’s Dream at 2 Title 1 schools in Santa Paula and in 2 libraries in Santa Paula and/or Oxnard.

Los Robles Master Chorale- $3,300 (of $3,300 requested) for the Los Robles Master Chorale 2nd Annual High School Choir Festival.  This non-competitive, choral-signing workshop for high school singers and their directors, to take place in March 2011, will be open to all public and private high schools in Ventura County.

Performances to Grow On- $3,500 (of $7,500 requested) for the Together We Can Make a Difference In Story Project, to support additional outreach performances by storytellers in Oxnard. 

Save Our Kids’ Music- $10,400 (of $15,000 requested) to support marketing and staffing of the Pleasant Valley School District Youth Arts Academy, providing after school and summer performing arts classes to 4th-8th grade students in the Camarillo and Somis areas.

Teatro de las Américas- $6,000 (of $8,800 requested) to support audience development, fundraising and marketing for Teatro de las Américas.  Teatro de las Américas performs live stage plays in Spanish to the Ventura County Community.  This grant will assist the organization in increasing their audience and implement a fundraising and marketing plan.

Theater 150 Inc.- $7,500 (of $15,000 requested) to support an awareness campaign and ticket subsidies for underrepresented groups to attend Ojai’s Shakespeare in the Bowl, providing professional summertime theatre outdoors in Ojai’s historic Libby Bowl.

Thousand Oaks Philharmonic Orchestra- $10,000 (of $15,000 requested) to support the creation of a marketing video and at least one additional classical concert for seniors.  These classical concerts for seniors are performed by Thousand Oaks Philharmonic Orchestra’s youth soloists, bridging the young and the mature through music.   

Santa Paula Art Museum- $5,000 (of $7,500 requested) for the De Colores Art Festival.  After a 3 year hiatus, this project will being the festival back to Santa Paula to showcase exhibitors and performances that exemplify the buoyant and colorful spirit of the local Latino Community.

$3,000 to partner with the Military Order of the World Wars to develop a theater piece giving veterans from WW II to Iraq and Afghanistan an opportunity to tell their stories

$4,000 to partner with the Ojai Land Conservancy and Ormond Beach Wetlands Preserve to create retablos of the most iconic flora and fauna which will be published as giclee prints and sold to create funding streams for both sites

$3,204 to partner with El Centrito Family Learning Centers and Barbara Webster Preschool in the Speaking Fragility to Create Confidence program to raise family literacy levels through storytelling and parenting workshops

Toni Jannotta
$4,000 to partner with Project Understanding to produce a dynamic performance piece in which members of the homeless community reveal their stories accompanied by jazz improvisations

Teal Rowe
$3,769 to partner with Armando Lopez to provide visual arts classes at Oxnard’s Downtown Center for the Arts for at-risk youth

Tesi Sanchez-Halpert
$3,500 to partner with the Ventura County Animal Regulation Department and Animal Regulation Volunteer Auxiliary to add whimsical animal sculptures created with welded scrap metal to the county animal shelter campus

Andrea Vargas-Mendoza
$4,250 to partner with students, parents and teachers at the Santa Paula Child Development Center to create an integrated “Learning Wall” mural to facilitate learning at the pre-school
