Richard Peterson is Director, Travel Industry Sales for the new California Academy of Sciences, San Francisco - the "Greenest Museum in the World".

Named by Conde Nast Traveler as one of the 'New Wonders of the World', the Academy combines a natural history museum, aquarium, planetarium and world-class research facility. Designed by award-winning architect Renzo Piano, the Academy opened to the public in September 2008 and has already welcomed over three millions visitors to their new home in Golden Gate Park.

Through his work with the Academy and tourism career, Richard has experienced firsthand the diverse best practices of museums, arts and cultural organizations and heritage sites around the world. In his presentation, he will detail how the Academy, and other non-profit institutions, are redefining the tourism sales and marketing norm by harnessing the best blend of innovation, collaboration, creativity and sales

Museum Roundtable
Major changes are underway among the museums of Ventura County in the form of exciting, new or expanded facilities, exhibition and conference spaces, and programs. Leaders in the forefront of such change will join in the conversation with Richard Peterson and share their vision for maximizing the community, cultural and economic impact of their museums. Panelists include Tim Schiffer (Museum of Ventura County), Admiral Benjamin Montoya (Seabees Museum), Jennifer Heighton (Santa Paula Art Museum), and Bill Conroy (Maritime Museum).
