VCCF Seeks Consultant for Ventura County Arts Initiative

The Ventura County Community Foundation is seeking a consultant to assist in increasing donor support for arts organizations in Ventura County. This position will work through the Arts Live in Ventura County Initiative, funded by the James Irvine Foundation's Communities Advancing the Arts program.

Proposal are due 5:00 p.m. on Friday, May 30, 2008.

Ventura County Community Foundation
seeks Receptionist

Title: Receptionist

Hours: 30 hours per week (9:00-3:30 p.m.)

Job Description
Position reports to executive assistant to the Chief Executive Office. Maintains calendar of conference rooms and events, performs a variety of duties relating to the overall functioning of the Foundation’s office.

  1. Answering phones, greeting clients, scheduling conference rooms, and directing calls to appropriate staff (serving as first point of contact for information on VCCF).

  2. Prepare all outgoing mail and distributes incoming mail.

  3. Must have own car available with evidence of current auto insurance coverage for occasional errands/deliveries to nearby businesses.

  4. Set up rooms for meetings and clean up afterwards.

  5. Maintain room reservation calendars and reservations for shared Board room.

  6. Maintain office facilities in a professional manner.

  7. Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications
MS Outlook, Office 2003 and Windows XP proficiency required. Good communication skills, the ability to represent VCCF in a professional and courteous manner.

Ventura County Community Foundation
seeks Development Assistant

Title: DEVELOPMENT ASSISTANT

Hours: FULL-TIME (40 HOURS PER WEEK) 8:30-5:00

Job Description
Reports to Director of Planned Giving

Responsible for supporting Donor Relations, Fund Development, and Planned Giving

  1. Assists Director of Planned Giving with correspondence and data collections.

  2. Assists Donor Relations officer and Director of Fund Development with:

    • Processing and mailing of acknowledgement letters
    • Special event coordination
    • Updating the donor database (FIMS) and Excel-based spreadsheets
    • Meeting preparation and setup
    • Meeting minutes and documentation
    • Fund Statement preparation and mailings
    • Room scheduling and office coordination
    • Other duties as assigned

  3. General office work including filing, copying, phones, etc. as needed.

  4. Be able to articulate the VCCF programs, mission & vision and the overall functions of a community foundation, both verbally and in writing.

  5. Participate with other staff in developing materials for donor communications and fund development. Show ability to work successfully in a team environment.

  6. Demonstrate strong customer service abilities while providing accurate and timely information to all staff, donors and other inquiries.

  7. Provide, as needed, backup administrative support to other departments.

  8. Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

VCCF's president will be starting in October a ten city community conversation throughout Ventura County , engaging local nonprofits, donors, community leaders and elected officials around key community priorities for future grantmaking. The first scheduled dates are October 31st in Camarillo, November 7th in Thousand Oaks and December 5th in Ventura, with the series continuing in the new year at each of the County's ten cities. These meetings, similar to a series three years ago, is to provide an opportunity for leaders in each community in Ventura County to share with VCCF how priorities around key issues like education, health care, development and workforce training, nonprofit capacity and stability, youth leadership, the arts, nursing, scholarships for college and the workforce, and other priorities should be reflected in VCCF programs, services and community grantmaking.
