The Nonprofit Finance Fund is conducting its fourth annual nationwide survey examining the current state of the nonprofit sector, and we hope that you will add your voice. The survey, which is anonymous and takes only 10-15 minutes to fill out, collects data on important financial and management issues facing the nonprofit sector. Introduction to Proposal Writing

Perfect for the first-time grant writer and for those interested in brushing up on the fundamentals, this introductory workshop provides an overview of the art of foundation research and proposal writing. Through rich discussion and hands-on writing exercises, workshop attendees explore both print and electronic resources available at the Center for Nonprofit Leadership and learn the basics of writing a winning proposal. Topics include: finding the right grants for your organization, proper grant writing terminology, an navigating the basic components of the grant application.
At the end of the two sessions attendees will have developed a draft proposal template. Come prepared to write by bringing copies of your organization's mission statement, project descriptions and background materials.

The California Consumer Protection Foundation will be accepting applications for approximately $1 million of grants under the Telecommunication Consumer Education Fund(TCEF). Successful TCEF projects will support the efforts of community-based organizations to ensure that Californians become more informed, savvy consumers of wireless telecom services. The 2012 applications are February 1, 2012 and May 1, 2012.

City of Ventura Accepting Applications For Funding Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) Program On Thursday, January 25, 2012 the City of Ventura (San Buenaventura) will begin accepting applications for 2012-2013 CDBG Program funding. The purpose of the federally funded CDBG program is the development of viable communities, decent housing and expanded economic opportunities for persons of low- and moderate- income. Although the U.S. Department of HUD has not yet released its 2012-2013 appropriation amounts, the City anticipates receiving approximately $735,000 in CDBG funds. The City is accepting applications for funding of projects that meet the program objectives and eligibility criteria, and that are located within Ventura city limits. The City will likely not have any funds available for public service projects such as recreation, childcare, youth programs, health, or drug abuse prevention projects. Organizations interested in applying for funding must attend the Pre-Funding Workshop on January 25th and submit a completed application by February 27th. The mandatory Pre-Funding Workshop will be held in the Community Meeting Room on the 2nd floor of Ventura City Hall at 9:00 a.m., January 25th. Application filing requirements, instructions, and forms will be available on the City's website (www.cityofventura.net/cd/redev/grants) beginning January 25th. |

Feel like dressing up this weekend for a gala evening out, hitting the green for a round of golf, or maybe attending a fashion show? Now all your options are available at the click of a mouse thanks to the new Ventura County Charitable Events Calendar.
The centralized community calendar is increasing exposure to the wealth of charitable activities and events open to the community while also helping nonprofit agencies avoid scheduling conflicts and duplication of events. The calendar is also a great way to promote the many choices potential donors have of contributing to nonprofit causes via a special event.
Nonprofit agencies are able to register as calendar users and then enter their events remotely. The Center staff approves each submission and obtains any necessary backup data within 24 hours. The calendar features events in four categories:

The computer lab is home to Technology Works for Nonprofits, a strategic initiative to ensure that nonprofit organizations have access, at an effective cost, to technology based skills-building opportunities and to impart to nonprofit leaders how appropriate use of technology can improve efficiency and effectiveness. This will be achieved through technology training and skill-building workshops, peer networking opportunities and access to expert consulting.
