Strengthen Local Nonprofits
VCCF provides many ways to strengthen local nonprofits:
Resource Center for Nonprofit Management
The only one of its kind in the county specifically
geared to help nonprofit leaders – staff and
board, the center provides workshops on
management and leadership skills and access to
databases on funding, donors and grantors.
Technology Works for Nonprofits
Through VCCF’s new Technology Center, classes
designed to improve a nonprofit’s systems and
business are offered on such topics as the
efficient uses of technology, software and
hardware. The center includes circuit riders for
customized training by dedicated and experienced
professionals who “ride the circuit” to
help individual nonprofits.
Planned Giving Initiative
Taking advantage of the historic transfer of
wealth, our Planned Giving experts will work with
local nonprofit leaders to help donors and board
members develop and establish planned and
deferred gifts. These gifts can go either directly to
the nonprofits or to a fund at VCCF to benefit a
charity, cause or community need.
Charitable Gift Annuity
Annuities guarantee an income stream to donors,
ensure charitable deductions, and provide the
confidence of knowing that your gifts go to the
organization fulfilling your philanthropic desires.
That means a triple win, using VCCF to achieve all
three objectives.
Endowments
For many nonprofits, endowments are key
stabilizers for their mission, providing long-term
sustaining support for programs and operations.
VCCF manages approximately $30
million in endowments (as of FY 2006) for
Ventura County nonprofits through agency
and donor-designated endowments. In doing so,
the Foundation provides skilled investment
management, fiduciary oversight and long-term
stability to nonprofit boards -all done with no
conflicts of interest, excellent investment
performance, oversight of both managers and
distributions, and a long-term commitment to
donor’s intent.
Board Chair and Leadership Series
This series provides board members with
valuable opportunities to learn or teach each
other about the unique responsibilities that come
with being a nonprofit leader in our County.
Through quarterly sessions, workshops on
financial knowledge assessment and active
mentoring programs, VCCF is a natural partner
in strengthening the board leadership of this
$1 billion sector of our economy.
