Volunteer/Involvement Opportunities

The Social Justice Fund is a volunteer driven community effort. Volunteers are critical to the effectiveness and impact of our mission, and are engaged in all levels of the activities of the SJF.
Volunteer/involvement opportunities include:

  1. Becoming a member of the Giving Circle.
  2. Hosting a gathering at your home to introduce friends to the work of the Social Justice Fund.
  3. Photographers and videographers. In order to better tell the story of the Social Justice Fund, we need photographers who will take pictures of our grantees, donors and SJF activities. Pictures will be used in our e-newsletter, power points, I-movies and on the website.
  4. Storytellers. There are wonderful stories of people changed by the work of the Social Justice Fund. Help those working on the front lines to tell their stories for use in newsletters and videos, and to share with donors.
  5. Public Speakers. We have established a speakers bureau to be available to churches, clubs and professional groups to share the stories of the Social Justice Fund. Scripts are available with powerpoint and I-movie to spread the word about the need for social change philanthropy and to help educate the community about social justice issues in Ventura County.
  6. Learn more about the importance of social justice philanthropy. Sign up for the SJF e-newsletter to stay informed about and share the needs and work of social change philanthropy in Ventura County. Click the E-Newsletter Sign Up button.

The James Irvine Foundation Challenge/SJF Endowment Fund

Because systemic change takes time, we are committed to the long-term view. Our vision is to be the leader in social change philanthropy for Ventura County, providing an on-going, dependable resource for educating and empowering the community and financing social justice and environmental organizations. As a result, the membership of the Social Justice Fund has determined to build an endowment to support the work of the SJF.
