Giving Circle

The Giving Circle brings together like-minded donors to listen, learn, and become leaders in social justice philanthropy. The goals of the Giving Circle are:

  • Make grants that engage, educate and empower those in our community who are directly impacted by social inequities, i.e. helping people help themselves.
  • Focus on removing and bridging structural and institutional barriers to equal opportunity.
  • Strengthen grassroots organizations that work for social, political, gender, environmental and economic equity.
  • Bring Ventura County’s progressive donors together to contribute in an intellectually stimulating way, meet like-minded individuals and have fun.
  • Connect grassroots groups and donors in discussion about equity issues facing our community.

Steering Committee

Strong volunteer leadership drives the growth and direction of the SJF. The Steering Committee – elected by and from the Giving Circle – operates on behalf of all donors. It exists to:

  • Ensure that the SJF is meeting its contractual and legal obligations; provide the leadership, focus and direction for the development of the SJF; and
