Options of Working with VCCF
Support Organizations
Support organizations are equivalent to a
separate organization under the tax-exempt
status of VCCF. Each has its own board (with
a majority appointed by VCCF) as well as its
own grantmaking priorities, grants committees,
investment options and identity. Each
also files individual tax returns. VCCF
provides administrative support through
grant communications, accounting and tax
returns, program evaluation, and meeting
facilitation – whether among generations or
employees, or both.
Contract Grantmaking
VCCF can provide the staff support necessary
to accomplish all the tasks needed for
grantmaking. This includes staffing committees,
facilitating the RFP (request for
proposals) process and identifying priorities,
grant solicitation, review and recommendation
procedures, and ensuring that all
distributions were accomplished effectively
and efficiently. Additional publicity can also
be provided.
Corporate Donor-Advised Fund
Using well-tested VCCF models, a donoradvised
fund vehicle can be set up to align
with corporate mission objectives, community
priorities and procedures for grant recommendations,
often involving employees. Funds are
distributed in the name of the fund
(determined by the company), providing
additional visibility and credibility for the
grants. Evaluation and reporting of grants are
provided as appropriate as well as general
publicity through VCCF communication and
public relations efforts.
Participate with VCCF Initiatives
- Many companies find that partnering with
VCCF on established and respected programs
or initiatives that focus on community priorities
are effective ways of demonstrating concern for
their surrounding neighborhoods, communities
and employees. These include a wide variety of
issues, including those affecting women,
literacy, Latinos, health, nursing, community
response, nonprofit management and leadership,
farmworker housing, social justice, the arts and a variety of other issues important to donors.
- VCCF program initiatives have oversight,
community engagement in determining priorities,
reviewing applications, making grants
and in following up on results – a level of
effective grantmaking and efficient staffing
that can be very attractive for corporate
and/or private foundation donors with limited staffing and multiple priorities but a desire to make a difference in Ventura County.
- Named Fund recognition provides additional visibility for companies on an ongoing basis.
