The 2011 grants committee elected to focus grantmaking on the following programs that expand opportunities for Latino youth to succeed through college preparedness for high school students:

  • Programs delivering curriculum that measurably increases academic achievement, college preparation and access;
  • Programs that educate Latino youth and parents about higher education requirements, financial aid, college admissions process and self-advocacy within the educational system;
  • Programs proven to increase access into advanced placement (AP) and college preparatory (CP) courses

This focus on youth is aimed to create synergy between the Destino grantmaking program and the Destino Scholarship Fund. The 2011 grants program has been completed. The next Destino grants cycle will be in 2013. Please sign up for the Center for Nonprofit Leadership E-News to receive VCCF's announcements for all requests for proposals.

Please note that in 2010 all VCCF Field-of-Interest Funds moved to a biennial grantmaking cycle. Destino is anticipated to make awards every other year (in odd years), with grant periods that are two years in length.
