VCCF holds over 400 funds
that are donor-advised, agency
designated, agency endowments, fieldof-
interest, scholarship, and other program
funds. These endowment funds will support in
perpetuity the work of the donors and nonprofit
agencies. Each fund welcomes additional contributions,
with the proviso that the fund’s purpose will
govern all distributions in the future.
VCCF Established Funds
Philanthropic giving is often more effective and
lasting by joining with others in furthering the work
of an already-established VCCF fund. These include
funds that focus on the needs of women and girls,
Latino organizations, preserving the County’s
heritage, special and urgent needs of area
nonprofits, community response funds, and a series
of scholarship funds that leverage contributions to
make a difference in the lives of students from every
part of Ventura County.
New VCCF Funds
With a commitment to ensure that long-term donor
intent is carried out, VCCF provides multiple opportunities
to ensure that donors can make a difference –
today and well into the future. Donors are welcome
to explore how a donor-advised, field-of-interest,
designated and/or agency endowment fund can
further their own philanthropic interests and support
the organizations they care most about.
Cornerstone Funds
VCCF’s Cornerstone Funds provide long-term stability
for VCCF programs and staff. Contributions to these
endowment funds sustain the ability of VCCF to
strengthen nonprofits, expanding the impact and
lower the cost of donor generated philanthropy, and
invest in the strategies and solutions that address
community priorities, now and in the future.
Cornerstone Funds include:
Administrative Endowment
Earnings from this endowment supplement
the VCCF annual operating budget by
providing earnings to support staff, facilities,
technology, outreach and program support.
The funds also allow VCCF to serve donors at a
lower cost.
Resource Center Endowment
Dedicated endowment provides not
only core operating support for the
library and programs of the VCCF
Resource Center, but also allows innovative
and focused programs to be launched
through our network of workshops,
consulting programs and community gatherings.
With the importance of the nonprofit
sector growing at a time of higher scrutiny
and accountability, keeping programs and
training current and relevant to today’s
challenges is vital to the health of the
nonprofit sector in our County.
Community Response Fund
VCCF’s commitment to serve the communities
of Ventura County must take into account the
changes that will occur in the years ahead.
By building a pool of funds dedicated to
meeting community needs on an annual
basis, we retain the flexibility to address new
problems facing the County, its nonprofits
and its residents. These unrestricted grants
leverage the work accomplished through
VCCF’s growing family of funds reflecting
donor intent, designated agency support and
field of interest causes, as well as other
contributions from foundations, companies
and individuals. Grants from this fund can be
a catalyst to create sustainable change, and
harness the support of others who care.
Annual Support Associates
Annual contributions to the
Associates result in a double investment.
Half of all unrestricted gifts go
toward the Foundation’s annual operating
budget, supporting staff, programs and
facilities. The other half is invested in the
administrative endowment, to sustain our work
in future years.
Century Circle
The Century Circle (launched in 2006) is a group
of 100 dedicated and generous volunteers who
contribute at least $1,000 annually to VCCF to
support its initiatives on community priorities and
grantmaking. Sustaining the work and leadership
of the local nonprofit community as well as being
an effective advocate for the work of philanthropy
and civic engagement in Ventura County is a unique
role for VCCF. Members of the Century Circle are
catalysts for our community, an important resource
for all of us in these rapidly changing times.
