Purpose of the fund: The primary purpose of the Fund shall be for general charitable purposes.
Background: Martin V. and Martha K. Smith were long time Oxnard residents whose name has become synonymous with philanthropy in Ventura County. The Martin V. and Martha K. Smith Foundation financed the construction of the Boys and Girls Club of Oxnard, which was named after Martin V. Smith. He also donated a substantial amount of money to finance the construction of California State University, Channel Islands, which named the first school on campus after him (the Martin V. Smith School of Business and Economics).
