Purpose of the fund: The primary purpose of this fund is to promote junior golf in Ryan’s name by providing annual grants to both Camarillo high schools to be used as a scholarship for a member of their golf team. The fund also supports other programs throughout the county that encourage and enable young people to participate in and enjoy golf. This fund provides uniforms for the Boys and Girls Club, Rio Mesa & Camarillo High Golf Teams.

Background: Ryan grew up in Ventura County and spent much of his childhood on the golf course. He was a four year letterman and two year MVP on the golf team at Rio Mesa High School. Ryan’s parents and brother wanted to keep his memory alive in perpetuity. “His true passion was golf and he would have been so happy to see how this has helped so many”. The O’Neil family hosts an annual golf outing, Ryan O’Neil Golf Classic Tournament and Dinner, every March to support the memorial fund.

Ryan O’Neil Golf Classic: The Ryan O’Neil Golf Classic is celebrating it’s 10th Anniversary in 2010. This annual event is held at the Las Posas Country Club. This year the event will be held on March 1, 2010 with a rain date scheduled for March 8, 2010. The proceeds from this tournament support the Ryan O’Neil Memorial Fund.
