It’s your choice: Ventura County Community Foundation funds address very real needs within our community. Here are some of the charitable options that allow you to invest in the community where you live.
Expanding educational opportunities
The Mary L. Schwabauer Leadership Fund was established in 2009 to ensure VCCF’s mission to address the needs of Ventura County and to help sustain a balanced budget through challenging economic times. Philanthropist Mary Leavens Schwabauer served as VCCF board chair from 2004 to 2008 and remains as a board member; Make a Donation 
The Scholarship Fund for Ventura County provides at least one scholarship at every high school in Ventura County, providing a hand to students pursuing their dreams; Make a Donation 
The Emerging Artists Scholarship Fund provides financial aid to talented students to pursue arts training at the best schools in the country; Make a Donation 
Destino Scholarship Fund opens the door to a college education for a first-generation student; Make a Donation 
Career and Technical Education Fund provides grants to students currently in the workforce, looking for training to help them get ahead; Make a Donation 
Medical Education Fund provides forgivable loans for nurses who promise to practice in Ventura County for two years. Make a Donation 
Expanding resources for those in need
Fund for Farmworker Housing is raising funds to help provide new sources of housing for Ventura County’s agricultural employees; Make a Donation 
Women’s Legacy Fund is focusing on grants for the future needs of women and girls; Make a Donation 
Destino: Hispanic Legacy Fund is providing resources to expand the literacy skills for Latinos – technical, reading and artistic literacy across the generations; Make a Donation 
Heritage Fund protects vital history and local records to preserve for future generations; Make a Donation 
ArtsLIVE in Ventura County provides grants for local arts organizations to expand their resources and mission, with an emphasis on those serving youth, seniors and traditionally underserved populations; Make a Donation 
Homeless Transition Fund is setting up an effort to assist transition local families able to move into more permanent housing. Make a Donation 
Nonprofit Support
Many local nonprofits have established endowment funds at VCCF, which can accept contributions directly through VCCF. We also have other options for donors to partner to help local agencies respond to the current difficulties:
Special and Urgent Needs (SUN) Fund provides one-time emergency grants of up to $5000 to nonprofits; Make a Donation 
Community Response Fund provides unrestricted grantmaking support to address priorities, as determined by the board; Make a Donation 
Planned Giving Initiative provides assistance for local nonprofits to help donors develop planned and deferred gifts as part of their estate plans to benefit the community. Make a Donation 
Annual Contributions
Ventura County Civic Alliance memberships support the important research, civic engagement and project initiatives of the Civic Alliance, particularly in the areas of sustainable regional development and workforce education strategies; Make a Donation 
Support for the Center for Nonprofit Leadership expands opportunities for programs to support training for board leaders, nonprofit staff in technology, marketing, fundraising and other key leadership skills to thrive in this environment; Make a Donation 
Associates build the capacity of VCCF to sustain its own broad platform of fund management, community leadership and research and donor assistance. Make a Donation
