Purpose of the fund: The primary purpose of the fund is to support the Salvation Army.
Background: Russell Fischer and his family moved to Ventura County in 1929. Mr. Fischer was a citrus farmer; his family developed the Hilltop Ranch in the Santa Rosa Valley in the 1930’s, where he lived until the 1980’s. Mr. Fischer spent his retirement years living in Camarillo. He has become the single largest benefactor to the Ventura County Community Foundation, naming VCCF as the beneficiary of an $11 million bequest, designed to establish endowment funds for five non-profits in the County.
