New West Symphony Youth Music Education Fund

Purpose of the fund: The primary purpose of the Fund shall be to provide support to New West Symphony's Youth Music Education Program.
Background: The Martin V. and Martha K. Smith Foundation, which is partnered with the Ventura County Community Foundation, provided the initial grant to create the New West Symphony Youth Music Education Fund. Martin V. and Martha K. Smith were long time Oxnard residents whose name has become synonymous with philanthropy in Ventura County. The Martin V. and Martha K. Smith Foundation financed the construction of the Boys and Girls Club of Oxnard, which was named after Martin V. Smith. He also donated a substantial amount of money to finance the construction of California State University, Channel Islands, which named the first school on campus after him (the Martin V. Smith School of Business and Economics).
