George/Marie Theresa “Tessie” Bach Charitable Endowment Fund for School Libraries in Port Hueneme

Purpose: The primary purpose of the Fund shall be to provide support to the public elementary school libraries located in the City of Port Hueneme.

Background: George, a native of Santa Paula, and Tessie Bach built their first home together in Port Hueneme and were devoted to their community. Tessie Bach worked for the Port Hueneme school district for almost 30 years, beginning her career as a bookkeeper and eventually establishing the first public school library in the city. She recognized the need for children to have easy access to knowledge, and by the time she retired she had assisted with the development of eleven school libraries in the Hueneme District.

“Tessie loved the simplicity of creating a fund with a three page document that would leave a legacy of learning for the children of Port Hueneme,” said Jo Ann Wedding, Tessie’s estate planning attorney.
