Dr. & Mrs. William Hart Fund
Established by: William and Louise Hart
Established on: February 1, 2000
Purpose of the fund: The purpose of this fund is to support the Cornerstone Administrative Endowment Fund.
Background: According to the winter 1992-93 edition of VCCF Highlights, Dr. Hart joined VCCF’s Board of Directors in December, 1992. Born in 1930 at St. John’s Hospital in Oxnard, Bill was raised in Santa Barbara. He attended the University of California, Berkeley where he decided to pursue a medical career. Bill and his wife, Louise, returned to Ventura in 1962 when Dr. Hart was the first board-trained or certified Cardiologist in Ventura County. Dr. Hart continued giving back to his community after his retirement in 1992. No only had Dr. Hart served on VCCF’s Board of Directors but also Interface and Community Memorial Hospital. According to Dr. Hart it is important to “plat roots, work hard, be honest, have faith in your community and, if you do this, the community will be good to you.” The Dr. and Mrs. William Hart Fund is just one example of their faith in Ventura County.
