Rick serves as the program officer for several VCCF funds, including the Social Justice Fund for Ventura County, ArtsLIVE and the Fund for Farmworker Housing.

Rick Pearson is charged with researching best practices in grantmaking to make sure donor funds are put to the best use and that the Community Foundation continues to comply with all governmental requirements and ethical standards.

He joined the VCCF staff in May 2010, after serving as executive director for 20 years of Project Understanding in Ventura, which assists low-income families and individuals in western Ventura County.

Rick graduated from North Hollywood High School in the San Fernando Valley region of Los Angeles. He earned a bachelor of science degree in engineering from the University of California, Los Angeles. He holds a master of divinity and master of arts degree in religious education from the Claremont School of Theology.
