Katrina Maksimuk is charged with assisting the Ventura County Civic Alliance Executive Committee and its three subcommittees: Workforce Education, Compact for a Sustainable Ventura County and Livable Communities.
Katrina assists the Alliance and its goal to ensure the people of this region enjoy a healthy balance between of economic, environmental and social-equity needs. Katrina’s goals include raising awareness of decisions being made in the county, increasing civic engagement and building bridges between other community organizations, businesses and individuals.
Before coming to VCCF in 2010, Katrina worked in clinical labs at the University of California, San Francisco, Medical School in Pathology and Immunology. Katrina switched gears from science to activism when she became an AmeriCorps Promise Fellow.
Katrina is also a professional artist who works in photography, film making and performance. She has received numerous awards and recognitions including the Superior Service Award from UCSF as well as an arts grant from VCCF’s ArtsLIVE in Ventura County initiative.
Katrina graduated from University of California, Santa Barbara, in 2002 with her bachelor of science degree in microbiology.
Katrina says of her job: “I am grateful to work at VCCF to be making a difference in the community I call home every day. The committee members I work with closely are beyond inspiration and their wealth of knowledge and drive for change keep me focused on the tasks at hand.”
